What we do with your information

Short, because we do very little with it. We take the details needed to repair your appliance and we do not sell, share or mine them.

This notice is drafted from how the site actually works. Still outstanding: Hawk Appliances Ltd’s registered office address, and whether it is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office — a business processing customer data for its own purposes usually needs to be, and the registration number belongs in this notice when it is.

Who we are

Hawk Appliances Ltd (registered in England and Wales, no. 10911976) of Manchester, Greater Manchester, is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at Repairs@hawkappliances.co.uk or 07392 456871.

What we collect, and why

When you book a repair or send a message

Your name, email address, phone number, the address the appliance is at, and what you tell us about the appliance and the fault. We use it to answer you, to attend the visit and to invoice for the work.

The lawful basis is contract — we cannot repair an appliance without knowing where it is and who to ring — and, for the parts that go beyond that, legitimate interests in running a repair business and keeping a record of the work we have done.

When you use the site — cookies

We advertise on Google, and use Google Tag Manager to see which adverts lead to a booking or a call. The first time you visit, we ask. If you choose Accept, Google may set advertising and analytics cookies; if you choose Reject, or do not answer, it may not, and Google receives only a basic, cookie-free signal that the page was visited. The site works exactly the same either way, and you can change your answer at any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

We tell Google when a booking or contact form is sent and when a phone number is tapped — that a conversion happened, not who you are or what you wrote. Your details from the forms are never sent to Google.

Apart from that, the only things stored in your browser are your cookie choice and your light or dark theme preference, neither of which leaves your device.

Who else sees it

Resend, which delivers the confirmation and notification emails this site sends. They process the email address and message content in order to deliver them.
Our hosting provider, which runs the site and holds ordinary server logs.
Google, for advert measurement as described above, and only with your consent where cookies are involved.
Nobody else. We do not sell your details, share them with marketing companies, or pass them to other trades.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for 12 months. Records of work carried out are kept for 6 years, which is how long HMRC requires business records to be retained and roughly how long a dispute about a repair could realistically arise.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
correct anything that is wrong
delete it, where we are not required to keep it for tax or legal reasons
stop using it for a particular purpose
send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable format

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
