£94.80 if fixed, plus parts
A combination microwave oven is an oven and a microwave in one. Most are built in at eye level, often above a main oven. When one side stops working, the other side often still does.
We fix combination microwave ovens from all the big makers, including Bosch, Neff, Siemens, AEG, Samsung, Miele, Panasonic, Smeg and Hotpoint. Tell us the model number when you book, so we can check the parts first.
We do not repair ordinary worktop microwaves. And please do not open the case yourself. A microwave holds a high voltage charge in its capacitor, even when it is unplugged. It has to be made safe before any work starts, so this is not a DIY job.
Faults we fix most
Sound familiar? Tell us when you book so we can bring the right part.
Microwave runs but the food stays cold
Usually the magnetron, the high voltage diode or the capacitor. We test each one safely.
Oven works but the microwave does not
The two sides use different parts. Often a fuse or a door switch on the microwave side.
Oven or grill not heating
A failed grill or fan element, a sensor or a tripped safety cut-out.
Turntable not turning
A worn turntable motor, or the coupler under the plate. Usually a small part.
Display blank, or the buttons do nothing
The control board, the touch panel or an internal fuse.
Will not start, or stops when the door is touched
The door switches or catch. They are a safety part, so we always fit the right one.
Sparking or flashes inside
Often the small cover on the inside wall has burnt, or the paint inside is damaged. Stop using it until it is checked.
Fan very noisy, or the case gets hot
The cooling fan or its motor. Stop using it if the case gets hot.
An error code on the display
Usually a sensor, a door switch or the board. Tell us the code when you book.

Questions
Do you repair ordinary microwaves?
No, only combination microwave ovens. That is the kind that is an oven and a microwave in one, usually built in. For a plain worktop microwave, a new one is usually cheaper than a repair.
Can I fix it myself?
Please do not. A microwave holds a high voltage charge in its capacitor, even when it is unplugged, and it can give a serious shock. It has to be made safe first, so this is not a DIY job.
The oven side still works. Can I keep using it?
Usually, yes, if the fault is only on the microwave side and there is no sparking, burning smell or hot case. If in doubt, leave it off until we have seen it.
It sparks when I use it. What should I do?
Stop using it. Check for foil, metal or plates with a gold or silver rim. If that is not the cause, book a visit. Do not keep running it, as it can damage other parts.
Is it worth repairing a built in combination oven?
Usually. A new one has to fit the same housing, which limits your choice. We will tell you if it is not worth it, and you only pay the call out.
